Dramatic drop in urinary phthalate levels following change in water bottle brand |
| Jun 29 2010 |
A 34-Year-Old Male Suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Complains of Excessive Thirst - Resulting in Consumption of 4-5 Standard 600ml Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) Bottles of Water Daily. An Assessment of Urinary Phthalate Levels Revealed Very High Levels of Mono-Ethyl Phthalate (MEtP). A Subsequent Change in PET Water Bottle Vendors Resulted in a Significant Drop in MEtP Levels on a Follow-Up Test. This Raises the Prospect of Differing Phthalate Concentrations for Different PET Bottled Water Vendors/Manufacturers.
